Spring Has Sprung

ASOS CURVE Exclusive Skater Dress With Ballet WrapSpring 2013 I think is going to be my favorite fashion season this year. And I'm rocking it pastel style this year. I was walking all round Target looking for my sister some clothes when the cascade of colors waved over me. Omg Asos has these skater swing dress combos and i love them. They are prefect for the curvy girl too and Now target is carrying a whole line of them in bright pastel floral prints and cute cobalt blue and bubble gum pink.

And its the start of tanning time. I am a spray tanner myself and I can honestly say that my legs make me happy I walk and do lunges daily so even though I am plus size my legs look well carried for. I think its important to care for our skin and making sure you moisturize daily and have care with shaving or whatever your hair removal process. Also a special reminder to all my fake and bake babies out there have a care when you get your waxing done. Always REMOVE your body hair THEN TAN!!!!!

Have some fun with color cause that is what Spring is all about!!!!!

Dreams

I dont know if anyone reads this, and in some ways that makes that easier. I wanted to blogged about my dreams...

I want to own my business, a cosmetics store like a real one like ulta or spehora but with real people who know what they are talking about in it. Somewhere when you ask for something they know what your talking about and dont have to go into a 5 min gab fest describing it, somewhere where they know what they are talking about. I want to help plus size women know how to style themselves. I want them to feel great in there skin. And more over i love that my husband believes in me enough that I can do that.

I will keep working hard and hope my dreams come true

Some Good Advice

A Friend who owns a plus size specialty dress shop shared some of her best tips with me recently and I wanted to pass this on.

#1
WEAR SHAPEWEAR DAILY
I’m talking medium to light control, save you’re your firm and extra firm control for big events. If you’re wearing a something tight like an or sheer and you don’t want every lump or bump you need shape wear. Skinny Jeans and a tight top might feel like you’re in shape wear hell but it does your figure no favors. Before the people’s Choice awards Kaley Coco expressed her love of shape wear and she is a skinny Minnie.
Spanx carries a line at Target called ASSESTS by Spanx. It’s great for the day to day wear with light to firm control. Now why do we do this, Tim Gunn reminds us in his book The Fashion Bible lumpiness is the anti-sexy… I’m not saying we need to go back to the Gone with the wind Days, but thanks to Vampish lovelies like Ditta Von Tesse Corseting is making its way back. Spanx are the modern way to go. I also like Maidenform they even have a pretty shape wear line and my hope as more women start buying the shaping cami they need or high waisted undies or even a wear your own bra body suit, the prettier these items will get. Look at bras it wasn’t so long ago that bras were pretty unsexy
#2
WEAR A WELL-FITTED BRA
If you’re a busty babe or have 2 aspirins on an ironing board (thank you Hubby) YOU NEED A BRA THAT FITS!!!!! Please no matter who you are big or small you need to be fitted and fitted every year or with more than 10 pounds weight loss or gain. It has so many amazing benefits to have a bra that fits. Better Posture, Less, back pain, Better fitting clothes, and it has even been argued that well-fitted bras can reduced occurrences of Breast cancer and better milk production in those reproductive years. Problem where to go: Victoria’s Secret does bra fitting but if your larger I would skip them all together and Go to Fredericks of Hollywood @ Fredericks they carry a wider arrange of sizes up to an F cup or (DDD) and if your even larger cupped then they should be able to point you in the direction of a Specialty Bra Specialist. Now if you’re like me and prefer to do 99% of your shopping online. You can measure yourself or have a friend assist you.

Always Check Return policy and Size Chart.

DRESS FOR YOU BODY TYPE

Me personally I have a figure 8 and I had no idea but since my dear friend has imparted this wisdom on me; I have made better dressing choices and never felt more comfortable in my own skin. I came upon a website during my search for body type advice http://www.insideoutstyleblog.com/category/body-shapes-explained. More to share as I do some research

What is Plus Size?

This is question that interest me..
In the Retail world a plus size is 14 and up.
In the Couture Fashion world plus size is 6 and up

So what does that really mean is make you less beautiful that you don't fit in sample sizes.. I guess that's for you to decide. Christina Hendricks is amazingly beautiful she clearly isn't a sample size.. Kate Upton an insanely sexy woman who has been criticized by fashion critics including the acclaimed Anna Wintour for being FAT!!! Crazy right.... So what about just plain body love. I have sat down with several men lately to ask them whats beautiful. Some are into in Tall leggy petite breast women, while others say they love a Kim Kardashian body. One guy told me he is man and excepts a woman to have a womanly body.
What about the vanity sizing?

If you were to take a personal style heroine of mine Marilyn Monroe... Its public knowledge Marilyn wore a size 12. but a Size 12 in the 1960 is very different the a size 12 in today sizes. So did sizing change as we changed. The average shoe size in 1960 was a 5 today its almost a 9. Average bra size a few decades ago was a 34c now is a 36d. Now many things have changed since the day when Marilyn Monroe wiggle tantalized millions. Nutrition has changed. Access to more food and types of food. I personally think the increase of a prepackaged fast food world is a major factor. In 1960 an average middle class woman worked at home cooked 3 meals a day for her family cleaned shopped and spent time with friends or charity organization. My mother was into the fast food world as a single working mother it was hard for her and with that she went from a healthy and athletic woman to obese who later had to result to a gastric bypass to lose weight, but since then she has been the greatest champion to me and my sisters to eat healthy, eat at home ,and respect and love your body. She lost half her body weight and still is classified as overweight. I admire my mom she has worked very hard and continues to do so but she is healthy and works out 4 days a week and eat right with her favorite meal is salmon brown rice and salad. That's what I do every day I cook almost all my meals at home made by my hands and when I eat out, I eat at noddles and company and subway. Loving your body is loving what you put in it. Plus size or not.

The Evil and Hateful Gym

I personal love to work out, I love my stationary bike, I love that I can do 20 miles on it easy without breaking a gross smelly sweat. But I hate that people assume because im a plus and "overweight" that im not healthy. My doctor and I have a laugh that Im healthier then my US Army husband. Now to point of the post, I went to the gym this morning, got on my favorite machine and a woman got on the machine next to me. She said " good for you working on you your new years resolution." She smiled... As I looked at her many thoughts ran thru my mind At first I wanted to cut her down like maybe she should start botoxing her hands cause they are showing her age.... or that she just a bitch... But I smiled and said no I just like cycling. but how rude just because I'm a plus I'm trying to lose weight. But then when i step away I saw maybe she was trying to be encouraging which is great. I think women should band together to encourage each other I hate then woman cut other woman down thing. I am naturally full figured I have large breasts and have wide hips and a smaller waist. That is the way I am made and you should embrace yours too.
